Submit to a Special Issue
Special issues focus on targeted themes in agronomy and welcome research that advances practice and science.
- Focused thematic visibility for your research area
- Engagement with a curated group of expert contributors
- Greater discoverability for readers seeking specific agronomy topics
- Opportunity to contribute to a concentrated collection of research
Special issues are ideal for presenting emerging methods, regional studies, or coordinated multi site research that benefits from a shared theme.
Because special issues follow defined deadlines, authors should plan submissions early and respond promptly to revision requests. This helps the collection publish as a coherent set of articles.
1) Identify the Right Issue
Review the ongoing special issues and ensure your manuscript aligns with the theme.
2) Prepare Your Manuscript
Follow the Instructions for Authors and include any topic specific requirements.
3) Submit Online
Use Manuscript Zone and indicate the special issue in the cover letter field.
4) Peer Review
All submissions undergo standard peer review with oversight by the guest editor and editorial office.
- Manuscript file with title page and main text
- Figures and tables as separate editable files
- Cover letter noting the special issue title
- Data availability statement
- Ethics approval or consent statements where applicable
Ensure that the manuscript clearly states how the study aligns with the special issue theme, and include any relevant keywords to support discoverability.
Reporting checklists may be required for specific study types.
Special issue submissions follow the same editorial standards as regular submissions. Manuscripts are screened for scope, originality, and integrity. The guest editor recommends reviewers with relevant expertise and provides a recommendation based on reviewer feedback.
The editorial office makes the final decision to ensure consistency across the journal. Authors may be asked to revise to improve clarity, completeness, or methodological reporting.
Accepted articles are published open access and receive a DOI. Article Processing Charges are applied after acceptance according to journal policy. If a special issue has a specific APC or waiver arrangement, this will be communicated in the call for papers.
Membership discounts may apply for eligible institutions. See the APC and Membership pages for details.
After acceptance, manuscripts proceed to copyediting and production. Authors review proofs for accuracy. Once published, articles appear in the special issue collection and are promoted through journal channels.
Authors must follow COPE and ICMJE guidance. Manuscripts should be original, not under review elsewhere, and free of plagiarism. If AI tools are used for language support, disclose this in a dedicated statement and confirm author responsibility for all content.
Conflicts of interest and funding must be disclosed in the manuscript. Data availability statements are required for all submissions.
