Instructions for Authors

Thank you for considering the Journal of Agronomy Research. Please follow these guidelines to ensure efficient review and publication.

Before You Submit

Confirm that your manuscript aligns with agronomy and applied agricultural science, contributes to field or production based knowledge, and is original and not under consideration elsewhere. If a preprint exists, disclose it during submission.

Review recent JAR articles for scope and format. For multi site or multi season studies, summarize locations, seasons, and management context in the abstract or methods.

Important notice: JAR uses single blind peer review. There are no submission or review fees; Article Processing Charges apply only after acceptance.
Submission Checklist
  • Manuscript file with page numbers and continuous line numbering
  • Title page with authors, affiliations, corresponding author email, and ORCID iD
  • Abstract and 4 to 6 keywords aligned with article type
  • Editable tables and separate figure files with clear labels
  • Data Availability Statement and repository link where applicable
  • Ethics approval and consent statements when required
  • Statements and Declarations (funding, conflicts, author contributions)
  • Cover letter in the submission field (max 500 words)

Manuscript Preparation

File Format

  • Preferred: Microsoft Word (.docx) or LaTeX
  • 12 pt, double spaced, with page numbers
  • Use standard margins and continuous line numbering

Title Page

  • Full author names and affiliations
  • Corresponding author email and ORCID iD
  • Running title and word count

Abstract and Keywords

  • Structured abstract when appropriate
  • 4 to 6 keywords
  • No citations in the abstract

Main Text

  • Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion
  • Clear headings and subheadings
  • Define abbreviations at first use

Use SI units and report cultivar names, soil type, site conditions, and statistical methods clearly for reproducibility.

Language and Style
  • Use clear, professional English and consistent terminology
  • Define abbreviations at first use and avoid them in the title
  • Italicize genus and species names

Write for an international audience and avoid unexplained acronyms.

Figures, Tables, and Supplementary Material
  • Figures should be high resolution (300 dpi minimum) and labeled clearly
  • Tables must be editable and include descriptive titles
  • Do not duplicate data between text, tables, and figures

Supplementary files may include datasets, protocols, or code and should be referenced in the main text.

Ethics and Integrity
  • We follow COPE and ICMJE guidance on ethics and integrity
  • Manuscripts must be original and not under review elsewhere
  • Research misconduct is investigated and handled according to COPE procedures
  • All submissions are screened for plagiarism using iThenticate or equivalent tools

For human or animal related studies, include ethics approval and consent or welfare statements.

Authorship and Changes
  • Authorship requires substantial contributions and approval of the final version
  • Changes to author order or membership require written agreement from all authors
  • ORCID iD is required for the corresponding author
Use of AI Tools
  • AI tools cannot be listed as authors; disclose substantive AI use
  • Authors remain responsible for all content, including AI assisted text and images
Statements and Declarations

Include a single section titled "Statements and Declarations" with the following where applicable:

  • Funding
  • Conflicts of Interest
  • Ethical approval and consent to participate
  • Data availability statement
  • Author contributions (CRediT taxonomy)
Data Availability

All submissions must include a Data Availability Statement. Refer to our Data Archiving and Permissions page for repository guidance and required wording.

Reporting Checklists

Where relevant, authors must follow reporting checklists from the EQUATOR Network (for example, CONSORT, PRISMA, or STROBE) and include the checklist with the submission.

Preprints

Preprints are allowed. Disclose any preprint versions at submission and update the preprint record with the published DOI once available.

References

JAR follows APA 7th edition. Ensure all references are cited in text and listed alphabetically.

Cover Letter

Provide a cover letter (max 500 words) in the designated Cover Letter field during submission.

Submission and Review Process
  • Submit via Manuscript Zone
  • The editorial office performs an initial scope and integrity check
  • Single blind peer review is conducted by subject experts
  • Authors may be asked to revise based on reviewer feedback

Revisions should include a response document that addresses each reviewer comment clearly.

Article Processing Charges

After Acceptance

Accepted manuscripts proceed to copyediting and production, followed by author proof review.

Permissions and Copyright

Authors are responsible for permissions for third party content. Articles are published under a Creative Commons license, and authors retain copyright.
