Data Archiving & Sharing

Supporting transparency in neonatal research.

Research Data Policy

IJNE supports open science while recognizing neonatal research involves vulnerable patient populations requiring special data protection considerations.

Data Availability

Clinical Data

De-identified datasets should be shared where ethically permissible. Aggregate data acceptable for patient protection.

Protocols

Detailed study protocols should be provided as supplementary materials enabling replication.

Code Sharing

Analysis code should be deposited in GitHub or similar repositories with documentation.

Patient Protection

Neonatal Data Sensitivity: We recognize that neonatal data requires heightened privacy protections. De-identification, parental consent considerations, and institutional requirements must be addressed.

  • Remove personally identifiable information including dates and locations
  • Document parental consent for data sharing
  • Follow institutional data governance requirements
  • Consider genomic data repositories for genetic studies

Include data availability statements in all manuscripts. Contact editors for guidance on sensitive neonatal data handling.
