Manuscript Structure

Original research manuscripts should follow standard IMRAD structure adapted for cardiovascular research. Present your work clearly with logical organization that enables readers to understand and evaluate your findings.

Title Page

Concise, informative title; complete author names with affiliations; corresponding author contact details; running title (50 characters); word count; conflict disclosures.

Abstract

Structured abstracts for original research (Background, Methods, Results, Conclusions). Include key cardiovascular outcomes and clinical implications. No abbreviations first use.

Introduction

Context and rationale for the cardiovascular study. State objectives clearly. Define research questions and hypotheses for clinical or mechanistic investigations.

Methods

Detailed methodology enabling replication. Include study design, patient selection, blood pressure measurement protocols, cardiac assessments, statistical analyses.

Results

Present findings objectively with appropriate cardiovascular outcome measures. Use tables and figures effectively. Include effect sizes and confidence intervals.

Discussion

Interpret findings in context of existing cardiovascular literature. Address limitations. Discuss clinical implications and future research directions.

Ethics Requirements

All research involving human subjects requires institutional ethics approval with documented informed consent. Studies should comply with the Declaration of Helsinki. Animal studies must follow institutional guidelines and report relevant welfare considerations.

Clinical trial registration: Interventional cardiovascular studies must be prospectively registered in recognized public registries (e.g., ClinicalTrials.gov) before participant enrollment. Include registration number in manuscripts.

Reporting Guidelines

JHC requires adherence to established reporting guidelines appropriate for your study design to ensure complete, transparent cardiovascular research reporting.

  • CONSORT: Randomized controlled trials of cardiovascular interventions
  • STROBE: Observational studies in hypertension and cardiology
  • PRISMA: Systematic reviews and meta-analyses of cardiovascular literature
  • CARE: Clinical case reports in cardiology practice
  • ARRIVE: Animal studies in cardiovascular research
Formatting Requirements

Manuscripts should be submitted in Microsoft Word or compatible format. Use standard fonts (Times New Roman, Arial) in 12-point size with double spacing. Number pages consecutively. Include line numbers for review convenience.

  • Figures: High resolution (300+ DPI), TIFF, JPEG, or PNG format
  • Tables: Editable format within the manuscript document
  • Supplementary materials: Clearly labeled and referenced in text
  • References: Vancouver style with journal abbreviations
Author Responsibilities

All listed authors must meet ICMJE authorship criteria demonstrating substantial contribution to conception, execution, or interpretation. All authors must approve the final manuscript and agree to accountability for the work. Changes to authorship after submission require documentation and agreement from all parties.

Conflicts of Interest

Authors must disclose all financial and non-financial relationships that could potentially influence the research or its interpretation. Include disclosures in the manuscript and submission form. Pharmaceutical company relationships, consulting arrangements, and stock ownership should all be reported transparently.

Revision Requirements

Revised manuscripts should include a point-by-point response to reviewer comments explaining changes made or providing scientific justification for unchanged elements. Track changes in revised documents to facilitate re-review. Maintain professional tone in revision responses.

Post-Acceptance Process

After acceptance, manuscripts undergo professional copyediting and typesetting. Authors receive proofs for review and must respond within the specified timeframe. Only corrections of typographical errors and factual mistakes are permitted at proof stage. Substantial content changes require editorial approval.

Supplementary Materials

Authors may include supplementary materials that support but are not essential to understanding the main cardiovascular findings. Appropriate supplementary content includes extended methodological details, additional statistical analyses, raw data tables, and extended imaging protocols. Supplementary files should be clearly labeled and referenced in the main text. Large datasets should be deposited in appropriate repositories with access information provided.

Language Standards

JHC accepts manuscripts written in English. Authors whose first language is not English should consider professional language editing before submission to ensure clear scientific communication. The journal offers language editing services for authors requiring assistance. Manuscripts with significant language issues may be returned for improvement before peer review. Clear, precise scientific writing enhances reviewer understanding and publication quality for cardiovascular research.

Reference Format

References should follow Vancouver style with numbered citations in order of first appearance. Include complete author lists for up to six authors; for more than six authors, list the first six followed by et al. Journal titles should use standard Index Medicus abbreviations. Include DOIs when available. Ensure all cardiovascular literature cited is accurately referenced and accessible.

Open Access Statement

All articles published in JHC are made freely available immediately upon publication under Creative Commons licensing. This open access model ensures your cardiovascular research reaches the widest possible audience without subscription barriers. Open access publication enhances visibility, citation potential, and real-world clinical impact of your work. Articles are permanently archived to ensure long-term accessibility for the global cardiology community.
