Overview

Global change ecology is the study of the relationship between ecological systems and global change. It examines how ecological processes can be impacted by both natural and anthropogenic climate changes, and how these changes can in turn affect human activities and the environment. By identifying and understanding the effects of global climate change on ecosystems, global change ecology helps to inform policy decisions and resource management practices in order to minimize environmental degradation and maximize the sustainability of ecosystems. Global change ecology has applications in conservation biology, agriculture, forestry, fisheries, land use and management, water resources, and public health.
