Overview

Translational Systems Biology is a multidisciplinary field that combines elements of Systems Biology, informatics, genomics, and biotechnology to develop a better understanding of the dynamics of complex biological systems. It focuses on the interactions between genes, proteins, and metabolic pathways, as well as other environmental factors, to gain a more holistic picture about how these variables influence each other and how changes in one component can lead to changes in another. In doing so, the field aims to develop innovative approaches to the investigation, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases and to improve human health and welfare. Translational Systems Biology plays a key role in the development of personalized medicine, where treatments are tailored based on individual genetics, and has potential benefits for the development of new drugs and therapies.
