These include overexposure to ultraviolet radiation in the form of natural sunlight and artificial sources like tanning beds, a weakened immune system, certain types of skin, family history, and long-term exposure to certain chemicals and drugs. Knowing and understanding the risk factors associated with skin cancer is crucial in order to reduce the risk and take preventive measures. Early detection is key and regular screenings with a dermatologist to check for changes in the skin and suspicious moles can lead to timely treatment and a better prognosis.
