Overview
Public Health Management and Practice encompasses the organizational, administrative, and operational activities required to deliver effective public health services to populations, including program implementation, quality improvement, health education, and workforce development. Research published in Public Health International examines diverse aspects of this field across multiple geographic settings and health domains. Studies address knowledge, attitudes, and practices among healthcare workers and communities on topics ranging from cardiovascular disease prevention and COVID-19 pandemic response to biomedical waste management and secondhand smoke exposure. The journal has published investigations into specific programmatic interventions, including school-based oral health programs utilizing fluoride and silver compounds, tobacco control strategies, and community health worker implementation of maternal and child health services. Additional research explores healthcare quality improvement in private facilities, self-medication practices during pregnancy, childhood injury burden in urban settings, and the integration of traditional healthcare systems with national health infrastructure. This body of work reflects the practical challenges of translating public health knowledge into effective action, particularly in resource-limited settings, and demonstrates the importance of understanding local contexts, healthcare worker preparedness, and community engagement in successful public health program delivery and health system strengthening.
