Overview
Health promotion encompasses strategies and interventions designed to enable individuals and communities to increase control over and improve their health through behavioral, social, and environmental changes. Research published in Public Health International addresses diverse dimensions of this field, examining both innovative communication techniques and population-specific interventions. Studies have explored methods for enhancing patient compliance during routine examinations, mental health promotion approaches for school-aged children through community-based mentoring, and the collection of global opinion data as a tool for mental health advocacy. The journal has published work on tobacco control strategies in specific national contexts, health status assessments of older populations, and knowledge and attitudes regarding cardiovascular disease among urban populations. Additional research has investigated barriers and facilitators to maternal and child health program implementation by community health workers, waterborne disease burden in young children, and healthcare worker preparedness during pandemic response. These investigations span multiple continents and health systems, reflecting the multifaceted nature of health promotion as both a clinical practice and a public health discipline aimed at preventing disease and fostering well-being across diverse populations and settings.
