Overview
Ethical issues in public health encompass the moral principles, values, and dilemmas that arise when designing, implementing, and evaluating programs and policies intended to protect and improve population health. Research published in Public Health International addresses several dimensions of this topic, including how organizational structures can be intentionally aligned with ethical values to achieve better health outcomes, and how traditional ethical frameworks such as Ubuntu philosophy might inform the integration of emerging technologies like artificial intelligence in African healthcare contexts. The journal has examined ethical considerations in reproductive health service delivery to vulnerable populations, including rural adolescents, and explored attitudes of healthcare students toward marginalized groups such as LGBTIQ individuals. Additional work has investigated barriers faced by community health workers in delivering maternal and child health services, raising questions about equity and resource allocation. Studies on knowledge gaps among tuberculosis patients and factors influencing caesarean section rates touch on informed consent and patient autonomy. This body of research reflects the complexity of balancing individual rights, community benefit, cultural values, and resource constraints in public health practice across diverse global settings.
