Overview
COVID-19 vaccines are biological preparations designed to provide immunity against SARS-CoV-2, the virus responsible for the COVID-19 pandemic. Research published in this journal addresses multiple dimensions of COVID-19 vaccination, including vaccine development processes, safety profiles, and population-level acceptance patterns. Studies have examined predictors of vaccine hesitancy and uptake in specific geographic regions including Nigeria and Kenya, with particular attention to healthcare workers who play critical roles in immunization campaigns. The journal has published investigations into vaccine willingness among specific populations such as people living with HIV/AIDS receiving antiretroviral therapy. Safety monitoring research has documented adverse events following vaccination, including cases of membranous nephropathy flare and liver injury, as well as safety assessments of specific vaccine products like BBIBP-CorV in people with multiple sclerosis. Additional work has evaluated vaccine efficacy and post-vaccination seroprevalence among healthcare workers in Italy. The journal has also featured broader COVID-19 research encompassing molecular evolutionary analysis of SARS-CoV-2 variants and mortality factors in patients with comorbidities. This body of work contributes to understanding both the immunological interventions against COVID-19 and the social, clinical, and epidemiological factors influencing their implementation and outcomes.
