Overview

Pain management is the branch of healthcare focused on assessing, diagnosing, and treating acute and chronic pain. It draws on a range of approaches, including medications, interventional procedures, physical therapy, psychological techniques, and lifestyle measures, with the aim of reducing pain intensity and improving function and quality of life. Effective pain management is central to palliative and hospice care, where relieving suffering and supporting comfort are primary goals. Research published through OpenAccessPub explores diverse facets of pain control. Studies describe novel approaches to pain after total knee arthroplasty using intra-articular toxin infiltration, examine chronic pain in the years following lung transplantation, and report on post-mastectomy pain management. Other work investigates non-pharmacological strategies, including a narrative review of music-induced analgesia through endogenous opioid production, and presents a clinical support system that integrates analgesic dosing with pain-trend analysis. Additional reports address pain in specialized clinical settings and the interplay of pain with psychological factors such as depression. Together these peer-reviewed, open-access articles gather evidence relevant to the assessment and treatment of pain across acute, chronic, and palliative care contexts.
