Overview
Laryngeal chondrosarcoma is a rare, malignant cancer of the larynx and associated cartilage, most commonly affecting adults in the fifth to seventh decades of life. It is associated with a high metastatic potential, with a considerable risk of death due to local recurrence or metastasis. Treatment involves surgical resection as well as radiotherapy, chemotherapy and immunotherapy, depending on the stage of the disease. Therefore, early diagnosis and treatment is important to improve prognosis and to prevent further risk of metastasis. The importance of early recognition and referrals for this rare malignancy cannot be understated, as it is the most influential factor for the overall outcome of the disease.
