Overview

Neurology research is the scientific study of the nervous system and its disorders, encompassing the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nerves in both health and disease. It seeks to understand how the nervous system functions, why it fails in conditions such as stroke, multiple sclerosis, and neurodegenerative disease, and how those conditions can be diagnosed, prevented, and treated. The field combines clinical observation, imaging, laboratory science, and therapeutic trials to advance care for neurological patients. Work published in Neurological Research and Therapy illustrates this range. Studies examine the prevalence, features, and early predictors of symptomatic lacunar infarction, evaluate a stroke protocol using computed tomography angiography for assessing acute ischaemic stroke patients, and analyse disability and prognostic factors of multiple sclerosis severity in a clinical cohort. Other contributions explore the methodology and history of neurological investigation, including the early use of blinding in therapeutic clinical research of neurological disorders and the historical and applied role of music in neurology. Together these studies span clinical, methodological, and historical dimensions of neurological science. This page gathers peer-reviewed, open-access research relevant to neurology research.
