Overview
Pediatric trauma is a type of physical trauma that occurs in children, usually as a result of an accident or injury. It is a major cause of mortality and morbidity in children and can lead to long-term disability and psychological trauma. Pediatric trauma can be classified into two distinct categories: skeletal/orthopedic trauma and soft-tissue trauma. Treatment for pediatric trauma typically involves surgical stabilization, medications, and physical therapy. Early recognition and intervention are crucial for minimizing long-term outcomes. Pediatric trauma can lead to life-altering physical or emotional consequences and should be treated with prompt and appropriate care.
