Every manuscript submitted to Journal of Tropical Diseases and Medicine is handled by a named member of this board, who selects the reviewers, reads their assessments and takes the decision.
Each submission is assigned to a board member with subject knowledge of the manuscript. That editor selects the reviewers, reads their assessments and takes the decision; reviewers advise, and do not decide.
Single-blind by default; double-blind review is available on request.
All submissions undergo initial editorial screening. Manuscripts that meet the journal's scope and minimum requirements proceed to independent peer review. Manuscripts that proceed to external peer review are normally evaluated by at least two independent subject-matter experts.
Editorial decisions are based on scope, scientific quality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, reporting quality, and relevance to the journal.
An editor does not handle a manuscript from their own institution, from a recent collaborator, or where any other interest could reasonably be seen to affect their judgment. The manuscript is reassigned to an editor without that conflict.
A manuscript authored by a member of this board is assigned to a different editor, who selects the reviewers and takes the decision independently. The editor-author receives reports and decisions only in the normal author capacity and has no privileged editorial access or role in handling the submission. Reviewer anonymity follows the selected review model.
A submitted manuscript is confidential. Editors and reviewers do not disclose its existence or content, and do not use unpublished material in their own work.
Editorial decisions are independent of an author's ability to pay. The article processing charge falls due only after acceptance and has no bearing on the decision.
Editorial Policies set out each of these in full.
Listed with the role, affiliation, country and research areas the journal records for each member. Where a member publishes an ORCID iD it is printed and links to their own public record, so a reader can confirm the identity independently.

The journal's Aims and Scope sets out six core domains. These are the ones the board's own recorded research areas reach.
Researchers with a substantive publication record in any area the journal covers are invited to join the editorial board or to review for the journal. Clinical tropical medicine and travel and imported disease are areas the editorial office is actively looking to strengthen.
