Aims and Scope

The Journal of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (JCAP) is an open access, peer-reviewed journal that aims to publish the highest quality research on the psychological, neurological, behavioural and developmental aspects of mental health in children and adolescents. The mission of JCAP is to provide a forum for researchers, clinicians, educators, and other professionals interested in child and adolescent psychiatry to exchange their findings in an open, unrestricted, and accessible format.

JCAP publishes a broad range of research topics related to child and adolescent mental health, including epidemiology, genetics, neurodevelopment, neurobiology, neuroimaging, psychopharmacology, therapeutic interventions, and health systems. The journal also welcomes contributions from other disciplines such as psychology, social work, and public health, provided they are focused on child and adolescent mental health. 

JCAP seeks to advance the understanding and effective treatment of child and adolescent mental health issues. To that end, it is committed to publishing high-quality original research and systematic reviews that promote best practices for the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and recovery of mental health issues in children and adolescents. Papers are welcomed from researchers around the world, including those from low- and middle-income countries.

JCAP also has a particular interest in promoting diversity and inclusion in the field of child and adolescent mental health. To that end, the journal welcomes research on topics such as systemic discrimination, cultural sensitivity, resilience, and resource disparities in mental health care.
