Biography
Sophia Lionaki, MD, PhD, serves as Head of the Department at University General Hospital Attikon in Athens, Attica, Greece. She received her medical education from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Faculty of Medicine. Her research focuses on nephrology, with particular emphasis on glomerular diseases and transplantation, including investigations of IgA nephropathy recurrence in kidney transplant recipients, donor-specific antibodies, and ANCA-associated vasculitis. Dr. Lionaki has authored over 21 indexed publications, with her most-cited work examining the incidence and clinical significance of de novo donor-specific antibodies after kidney transplantation (2013), which has received 37 citations. Her scholarly contributions address critical aspects of renal disease management, transplant outcomes, and autoimmune conditions affecting kidney function.
