Overview

The nervous system is the control center of the body. It is composed of the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord) and the peripheral nervous system (nerves connecting the CNS to other parts of the body). It enables us to sense and respond to stimuli, control bodily functions, think, and form memories. It is vital for physical and mental health, and its anatomy is essential to understanding how it works and why it can malfunction. The nervous system anatomy can be studied through various medical imaging techniques, such as X-rays, CT scans and MRI scans, which allow doctors to evaluate the structure and function of the nervous system. Understanding the anatomy of the nervous system is critical for diagnosing and treating a variety of neurological disorders.
