Overview
Maternal and Child Health encompasses the health and well-being of women during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period, as well as the health of children from birth through adolescence. Research published in the International Journal of Global Health on this topic addresses critical dimensions of service delivery, healthcare worker experiences, and health outcomes across diverse global settings. Published studies examine the utilization of nutrition and antenatal care services in Tanzania and Ethiopia, revealing patterns in how pregnant women access essential health interventions at facilities. Research from Rwanda explores both the barriers and facilitators that community health workers encounter when implementing maternal and child health programs, as well as quality indicators for maternal and newborn health services in the Western Province. The journal has featured investigations into nutritional status and health outcomes among women and children in Bangladesh, child mortality patterns in Nigeria, and the integration of traditional maternal healthcare practices with national health systems in Guinea. Additional work addresses preconception care knowledge in Nepal, the mental health burden among maternal and neonatal healthcare staff in Zambia, and the unique challenges faced by pregnant students in academic settings. This research contributes evidence for improving maternal and child health services in resource-varied contexts worldwide.
