Overview

Behavioral genetics studies the roles of genes, hormones, and environmental influences in animal behavior. By identifying the various genetic and environmental factors that influence behavior, researchers are able to gain insight into the evolution and ecology of wild animals. As such, it forms a crucial part of wildlife conservation, allowing us to better understand the biological basis of behavior and to craft conservation strategies that are effective and adaptive. Behavioral genetics also has a range of applications in animal husbandry and veterinary medicine, offering valuable insights into the behavior of animals and how we can best manage and care for them.
