Overview
Eating behavior encompasses the patterns, habits, and psychological factors that influence how, when, and what individuals consume as food. Research published in this journal examines eating behavior across diverse populations and contexts, including clinical investigations of night eating syndrome and its relationship to sleep patterns and psychopathology, as well as studies exploring the longitudinal effects of dysfunctional attitudes on eating disorder symptoms in children and adolescents. The journal has addressed feeding challenges in children with autism spectrum disorders, a topic of significant clinical relevance given the prevalence of food-related difficulties in this population. Additional research has explored contemporary concerns such as orthorexia nervosa and its impact on quality of life in young adults, reflecting emerging patterns of health-focused eating that may become problematic. Studies have also examined nutritional interventions in school settings, including breakfast cereal programs and their effects on body mass index and diet quality, as well as barriers to implementing food regulations for school children. Further work has investigated nutritional assessment methods in long-term care settings and the influence of family role modeling on health behaviors, demonstrating the breadth of factors that shape eating behavior across the lifespan.
