Overview
Recombinant DNA technology refers to the laboratory methods used to combine genetic material from different sources to create novel DNA sequences not found in nature, enabling the production of modified organisms or proteins with desired characteristics. Research published in this journal addresses diverse applications of this technology across multiple domains. Studies have examined proteomic and genomic techniques that support medical research, including applications in cancer diagnostics and personalized medicine. Work on precision plant genetics and breeding has explored scientific and technological interventions that enhance crop improvement strategies. The technology's role in detecting genetically modified organisms has been investigated through functional nucleic acid techniques. Additional research has considered recombinant approaches in understanding genetic mutations affecting blood coagulation factors in inherited bleeding disorders, the mechanisms of virus-induced carcinogenesis including human papillomavirus, and the development of oncolytic viruses as potential cancer therapeutics. Environmental applications have also been documented, including the use of genetically characterized bacterial strains for biodegrading pesticides such as malathion. These investigations collectively demonstrate how recombinant DNA technology serves as a foundational tool spanning human health, agriculture, diagnostics, and environmental remediation.
