Biography
Samantha Chandranath Karunarathna, PhD, is a Professor at Qujing Normal University in Qujing, Yunnan, China. She completed her education at Mae Fah Luang University School of Science and has contributed extensively to fungal taxonomy and phylogeny, with over 175 indexed publications. Her most-cited work, "The numbers of fungi: contributions from traditional taxonomic studies and challenges of metabarcoding" (2022), has received 151 citations. Her research background includes serving as a research assistant on multiple grants focused on basidiomycete biodiversity, taxonomy, phylogeny, and cultivation in Thailand, supported by the National Center for Genetic Engineering & Biotechnology, the National Research Council of Thailand, Mae Fah Luang University, and the Thailand Research Fund between 2009 and 2015.
