Overview
Renewable energy refers to power derived from naturally replenishing sources that are not depleted by use, including solar, wind, biomass, and hydrogen. Research published in Energy Conservation addresses practical applications and optimization of renewable energy systems across multiple scales. Studies have examined solar photovoltaic systems, including DC-DC boost converter design for panel interfacing and the thermal properties of nanofluid-enhanced photovoltaic-thermal collectors. Solar thermal applications have been investigated through water heating systems employing two-stage thermostats for industrial pre-heating. Alternative power system configurations have been analyzed mathematically for residential applications in northern climates. Biogas production from organic waste substrates, including cattle dung and food waste, has been assessed for energy generation potential. Hydrogen production through alkaline electrolysis has been experimentally modeled and optimized. Additional work has explored concentrated solar radiation interactions with materials and the role of terrestrial and aquatic plants in carbon dioxide uptake as part of sustainable energy transitions. These investigations contribute to understanding how renewable technologies can be implemented, improved, and integrated into buildings, homes, and industrial processes to reduce dependence on finite fossil fuel resources.
