Overview
Nucleic acids are biological macromolecules—primarily DNA and RNA—that store, transmit, and express genetic information in living organisms. Research published in DNA And RNA Research addresses multiple dimensions of nucleic acid science, ranging from fundamental molecular biology to applied diagnostic technologies. Published work has examined functional nucleic acid techniques for detecting genetically modified organisms, template-independent synthesis methods for creating nucleic acid libraries, and the development of microfluidic assays employing microRNAs for colon cancer screening in resource-limited settings. Additional studies have explored RNA-binding proteins and their cellular roles, genomic and proteomic techniques applicable to cancer diagnostics and personalized medicine, and the relationship between oxidative damage to telomeric DNA and biological aging. Comparative genomic research has investigated chromosomal organization and compositional features of divergent human-mouse orthologs, while other articles have addressed nucleic acid aspects of viral pathogens and biotechnological applications in algae. This body of work reflects the central importance of nucleic acids across molecular diagnostics, evolutionary biology, disease mechanisms, and biotechnology, demonstrating how nucleic acid research bridges basic science and clinical or industrial applications.
