Overview
DNA, or deoxyribonucleic acid, is the molecule that carries the genetic instructions used in the growth, development, functioning, and reproduction of living organisms and many viruses. It is composed of two long strands wound into a double helix, each made of nucleotides containing one of four bases, adenine, thymine, guanine, and cytosine, whose sequence encodes genetic information. DNA stores hereditary information, directs the synthesis of proteins through transcription and translation, and is faithfully copied during cell division, while also being subject to mutation and damage that drive variation and disease. Its study underpins genetics, molecular biology, biotechnology, forensics, and medical diagnostics. DNA And RNA Research publishes work across nucleic acid biology, including studies on the redox potential of phytochemicals and their impact on DNA, template-independent synthesis of nucleic acid libraries, chromosomal and functional clustering of divergent human-mouse orthologs, methods for screening gene polymorphisms, the role of disulfide-mediated dimerisation in DNA binding by plant transcription factors, DNA barcoding for species and food-resource identification, and functional nucleic acid techniques for GMO detection. These illustrate the journal's broad coverage of DNA structure, function, analysis, and application. This page gathers peer-reviewed, open-access research relevant to DNA.
