Overview
Intestinal resection is a surgical procedure in which a portion of the intestine is removed. It is often performed to treat conditions such as intestinal obstruction, infection, inflammation, cancer, and trauma. In some cases, it may be necessary to remove the entire section of the intestine affected by the condition. This surgery can be used to prevent or correct problems that can arise from blockages, structural abnormalities, and diseases that affect the digestive tract. Intestinal resection can help to improve the quality of life of patients who are affected by serious medical illnesses, reducing pain and allowing for improved nutrition and digestive health.
