Overview

Gastrointestinal motility disorders are conditionsthat affect the movement of food through the digestive system. These disorders can cause uncomfortable and dangerous symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea and constipation. When these symptoms occur, it is important to seek medical attention to determine the cause and any necessary treatments. Treatment may consist of medication to reduce symptoms, or in more serious cases, surgery to remove part of the digestive tract. It is important to correctly identify and diagnose gastrointestinal motility disorders to ensure effective treatment and long-term management.
