Overview
Dermatology skin cancers are malignancies (abnormal growths) that originate from the cells of the skin. These cancers can range from mild to life-threatening and can include the two most common types, melanoma and lymphoma, as well as other less common types. These cancers can cause discoloration of the skin, lesions, and may require surgical removal. To detect skin cancers, regular skin checks and self-examinations are recommended to ensure that any suspicious lesions are promptly diagnosed and treated. Dermatology skin cancers are largely preventable as they are often caused by excess sun exposure, environmental factors, and genetics.
