Overview
Atopic Dermatitis and other forms of eczema are a group of skin conditions characterized by inflammation, itching, and dryness. It is estimated that up to 30% of the population will suffer from some form of eczema at some point in their lives. Eczema can range from mild itching or redness to extreme, uncomfortable itching and blistering. Proper diagnosis and management of the condition is important for the best outcomes. Treatment often involves avoiding potential triggers such as certain foods, environmental factors, and certain fabrics. Regular use of moisturizers and topical steroids can also help greatly. Dermatologists are essential in helping to diagnose and treat eczema, as they have the expertise to identify different types of eczema and create a tailored treatment plan.
