Dr. Peter L. Fisher is a Reader at the University of Liverpool, United Kingdom, where he conducts research on metacognitive therapy and emotional distress in physical illness. He earned his PhD from the University of Dundee and has established himself as a leading expert in metacognitive approaches to psychological disorders, particularly obsessive-compulsive disorder, anxiety, and depression in medical populations. His most influential work, a 2022 systematic review and meta-analysis on fear of cancer recurrence in cancer survivors and patients, has been cited 289 times and reflects his sustained focus on improving psychological interventions for individuals facing serious physical health challenges.
