Overview
Pathology, and Surgical Pathology specifically, is a medical specialty that examines the body and its functioning as a part of a medical diagnosis. By examining and studying the body, physicians are better informed to make decisions about diagnosis, treatment and the best course of action for that patient. Surgical Pathology specifically is a type of medical examination which is performed on tissue and other material collected from surgeries. This material is then studied to assist with the diagnosis of diseases and to help develop treatment plans. It plays a critical role in the detection and curing of diseases, allowing for quicker and more efficient treatment and a better quality of life for patients.
