Overview

Pediatric cancer genetics is the study of hereditary factors in the development and progression of childhood-onset cancer. It is an active area of research that seeks to identify genes that are associated with an increased risk of developing specific types of cancer, as well as exploring the impact of genetic mutations on tumor characteristics, progression and response to treatment. This knowledge can help inform better treatments, improved prognoses and earlier detection of cancer in children.
