Overview

Blood Pressure, the force of blood against artery walls, is an important indicator of health, and any change can be an indication of serious medical issues. Doctors measure Blood Pressure through a device called a sphygmomanometer, which is used to diagnose hypertension (high Blood Pressure) or hypotension (low Blood Pressure). Increasing or decreasing Blood Pressure, as well as abnormal readings, can be indicative of a variety of medical conditions such as a heart attack, stroke, kidney disease, or diabetes. Knowing a patient's Blood Pressure readings is essential to providing a proper diagnosis and effective treatment. Regular monitoring of Blood Pressure is a critical part of preventive care, and doctors’ advice must be followed to keep Blood Pressure in normal range and maintain good health.
