Overview
Nutraceuticals are products derived from food sources that provide health benefits beyond basic nutrition, including dietary supplements, functional foods, and bioactive compounds used for disease prevention or health promotion. Research published in this journal addresses multiple dimensions of nutraceuticals, ranging from consumer demand patterns and global health needs to specific applications in clinical contexts. Studies have examined the emerging interest in functional foods among specific populations during health crises, as well as the broader necessity of nutraceutical products for worldwide health benefits. The journal has published investigations into nutraceuticals for veterinary applications, including itch control in flea allergy dermatitis, and has explored biotechnological sources such as algae for industrial and nutraceutical applications. Additional research has focused on the characterization and biological evaluation of vitamin-based formulations, including cholecalciferol properties and antioxidant activities of vitamin and mineral supplements. Several studies have assessed proprietary test formulations for cardiovascular health, renal protection, and organ-specific biomarkers in experimental models. This body of work reflects the interdisciplinary nature of nutraceutical research, spanning consumer behavior, biotechnology, formulation science, and preclinical evaluation of health-promoting compounds.
