Overview

Biomedical applications refer to the use of materials, devices, and technologies to diagnose, treat, or prevent disease and to repair or replace damaged biological tissues. Research published in this journal addresses diverse aspects of this field, including the development of Biomaterials for tissue engineering such as calcium orthophosphate and chitosan-based scaffolds designed to support bone regeneration. Studies have examined the enzymatic degradation behavior of chitosan scaffolds and explored chitin derivatives for both medical and environmental purposes. The journal has also featured work on three-dimensional printed bone scaffolds and investigations into the biocompatibility of materials used in additive manufacturing for medical devices. Additional research areas include pH-sensitive nanomedicine formulations for cancer treatment, antibacterial properties of substituted ferrite nanoparticles, and gold nanorods for gene silencing in neuronal cells. Nanocomposite materials with potential electromagnetic and adsorption properties have been characterized, and foundational diagnostic techniques such as enzyme immunoassays have been reviewed. These biomedical applications matter because they advance the development of safer, more effective materials and methods for clinical intervention, ultimately improving patient outcomes and expanding therapeutic possibilities across multiple medical disciplines.
