Overview
Habits are learned behaviors that become automatic through repetition, influencing daily routines and long-term health outcomes. Research published in this journal examines habits primarily through the lens of dietary patterns, eating behaviors, and their connections to physical and mental well-being across diverse populations. Studies have investigated pedagogical models for improving dietary habits through prescription-based interventions, comparative analyses of dietary education approaches in different cultural contexts, and the role of food energy density in weight management among older adults. The journal has explored how meal timing and sleep habits interact with circadian rhythms to affect academic performance in elementary students, documented feeding difficulties in children with autism spectrum disorders, and examined barriers to implementing nutritional regulations in school settings. Additional research has addressed the influence of family dynamics on children's fluid intake habits, the relationship between restrictive eating patterns and quality of life in young adults, and how low energy intake affects metabolic function in young women. This body of work demonstrates that habits—particularly those related to nutrition and daily routines—represent modifiable factors that significantly impact developmental outcomes, chronic disease risk, and overall quality of life across the lifespan.
