Overview

Food security is the condition in which all people, at all times, have physical, social, and economic access to sufficient, safe, and nutritious food to meet their dietary needs for an active and healthy life. It is commonly understood through the dimensions of availability, access, utilisation, and stability of the food supply. Achieving food security is a global priority closely linked to agriculture, nutrition, economics, and the environment. Agronomy Research contributes by developing crops, soil management practices, and technologies that raise productivity and resilience, while challenges such as climate change, land degradation, population growth, and resource constraints threaten supply. Related themes include sustainable and precision agriculture, soil fertility, the water-energy-food nexus, nutritional status of vulnerable populations, and alternative food sources. This journal, focused on Agronomy Research, publishes work touching on several of these aspects, including the climate change-land degradation-food security nexus, precision and remote-sensing approaches in agriculture, soil fertility dynamics and crop disease, fertiliser response and foodgrain production, the role of migration and remittances in agriculture, insect-based foods and their sustainability, and assessments of the nutritional status of women and children.
