Overview

ACE inhibitor therapy is a key area of research in the field of Advanced Pharmaceutical Science And Technology. These drugs target the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS) and prevent the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II, ultimately leading to lowered blood pressure. ACE inhibitors have been shown to be highly effective drugs for the treatment of hypertension. They have also been used in the management of heart failure, myocardial infarction, and diabetic nephropathy. Additionally, ACE inhibitors offer advantages in the prevention of cardiovascular disease in patients with hypertension and diabetes. Research suggests that ACE inhibitors may have beneficial effects on the endothelial dysfunction, inflammation and oxidative stress associated with cardiovascular disease. These effects are thought to be attributed to the fact that ACE inhibitors not only lower blood pressure but also reduce the production of angiotensin II, a potent vasoconstrictor that is involved in the pathogenesis of cardiovascular disease. Several ACE inhibitors are currently available in the market. These include Lisinopril, Enalapril, Ramipril, and Captopril. Overall, ACE inhibitors offer a potent and safe therapy for the management of hypertension and cardiovascular disease. As such, continued research on this class of drugs is crucial to the development of new treatments and the progression of Advanced Pharmaceutical Science And Technology.
