Biography
Dr. Nadia Sitoe is a Public Health Specialist (Laboratory advisor) at the CDC in Maputo, Mozambique. She earned her PhD from Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, with additional training at Instituto Oswaldo Cruz and Universidade Eduardo Mondlane. Her research has focused on the performance evaluation and implementation of point-of-care diagnostic technologies in resource-limited settings, including CD4+ T-cell enumeration for HIV management, early infant HIV diagnosis, and quality assurance systems for point-of-care testing in Mozambique's National Health Service. Her most-cited work includes the 2022 performance evaluation of COVID-19 antigen tests during high transmission periods in Mozambique, alongside influential studies on mobile phone technology to improve diagnostic quality and the operational impact of point-of-care CD4 testing on antiretroviral therapy initiation and patient retention in primary healthcare clinics.
